Mogadishu, October 29 – November 3, 2023 The Somali Women Journalists Rights Association (SOWJRA) has today launched digital media skills and story telling training for 50 women journalists in Mogadishu today. The training is funded by the government of Slovakia.
The training was attended by several government officials and media organizations in Mogadishu. The director of Human Resources of the Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia Fartuun Ahmed Hassan has opened the training, saying that it is paramount for enhancing the capacity of women journalists in the country.
The head of Social media of the Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia Mr. Abdi Shakur Ali Ahmed has commended SOWJRA and government of Slovakia for this crucial training which is intended to improve the digital skills of women journalists in Somalia.
The deputy director of SOWJRA Naima Said Salah who spoke at the event has said that the SOWJRA is committed to improve the digital media skills of Somali women journalists.
In her opening remarks, the executive director of SOWJRA Leila Adeed has thanked the government of Slovakia for its funding. She also said that SOWJRA will leave no stone unturned in improving the capacity and skills of Somali women journalists.
