Somali Woman Journalist Rights Association (SOWJRA) with support from UNFPA Somalia has conducted two days ccommunity discussion and awareness raising meeting on the harmful impact of early and child marriage in Mogadishu 8- 9 June 2021. The meeting which was highly organized participated by different community segments including Elders, Religious Leaders, Youth, Women, Local Administration, IDPs, and representatives from the national union of women.
The two days meeting discussions highlighted some of the major impacts of the early and child marriage in the community, the participants of different backgrounds presented very fruitful ideas and suggestions to end this harmful cultural practice in Somalia. The meeting was concluded with remarks from SOWJRA chairperson Leila Ad’ed Osman appreciated the participants for their contribution and thanked SOWJRA and UNFPA Somalia for their continues support and commitment to end child and early marriage in Somalia.
