A FEMALE JOURNALIST WOUNDED DURING AL-SHABAB ATTACK AT NAASAHABLOOD 2 HOTEL IN MOGADISHU

Deeqo Cubeyd Mohamed a female journalist who was working for Radio Afgoye was injured during Al-Shabab attack at Naasahablood 2 Hotel in Mogadishu on 26th October 2017. She has been ill for a long time in her home village of Boondheere in Mogadishu. Unfortunately she did not receive any health services from the government or any other agencies, but there has been promises made and she is still waiting for medical assistance to improve her situation.  ‘I have requested a number of times from the government and media organizations to support me to be health again’’ She said.

During interview with Deko Cubeyd, the journalist reported that the left legs and the bones needed to grow from the lungs are becoming weaker, and she says that the medical doctors have informed me that my case cannot be solved here in the country so I need to be treated abroad.

Somali Women Journalist Rights Association (SOWJRA) which advocates for the rights of female journalists has paid a visit to Deko Cubeyd to inquire about her health situation and to raise funds as well as advocate for her case. Leila Aded, SOWJRA chairlady has presented funds which she collected from the members of Somali Women Journalist Rights Association (SOWJRA).
